<p>Alkaloids e.g. ergot, reserpine and vinamine alkaloids are recovered from aq. solns or filtered culture broths by the addn. of an aq or organic soln of I2, sepg and dissolving the ppt in an organic solvent and decomposing the complex with a reducing agent. The iodine is recovered from the aq phase and the alkaloid from the organic phase. Thus lysergic acid amide is isolated from a broth of Claviceps paspali by adding I2 in KI dissolving the pptd. complex in CHCl3 and decomposing with Na2S2O3.</p> |
