The invention relates to the pharmaceutical industry in general and in particular to the pharmaceutical industry involved in the preparation of medicaments for controlling osteoporosis. More specifically, the invention relates to a composition containing a combination of a derivative of synthetic steroids, such as tibolone, minerals such as calcium and the active metabolite of vitamin D 1,25 (OH)2 (calcitrol) for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. The inventive composition is advantageous over the prior art in that the same results can be obtained with a smaller amount of each of the components than when they are consumed separately or better results can be obtained with the same amount of each of the components than when they are consumed separately. Said composition consists of: a synergistic combination of a synthetic steroid, minerals and the active metabolite of vitamin D, 1,25 (OH)2 D3 (calcitrol) for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
