A method for controlling an operation of a refrigerator is provided to produce an ice making tray easily and to reduce a production cost by simplifying a structure of the ice making tray and a detecting structure of full ice. A method for controlling an operation of a refrigerator includes the steps of blowing cool air to an ice making tray by operating a tray fan regardless of conditions of a cooling chamber(S111), starting an ice making process when the ice maker is on(S113), detecting if a rapid ice making mode button is applied(S115), operating under a first rapid ice making mode if the rapid ice making mode button is applied(S145), operating under a rapid freezing mode to freeze a food in a freezer rapidly(S147), operating under a second rapid ice making mode if the rapid mode comprises four stages, supplying water into an ice making room of the ice making tray from the water supplying unit if none of the rapid mode buttons are pressed(S121), making an ice by exposing water in the ice making tray for a prescribed time(S123), detecting if a prescribed time is passed for ice making(S125), rotating the tray fan for removing the ice if ice making is completed(S131), rotating the ice making tray(S133), detecting if ice is full in an ice bank while rotating the ice making tray(S135), and removing the ice by applying a high thermal energy for a short time to a boundary between the ice and the ice making tray and recovering the ice making tray to an initial position by a reverse direction(S137). |
