A method for power factor compensation of an inverter air-conditioner is provided to minimize imbalance of DC link voltage due to generation of peak current. A method for power factor compensation of an inverter air-conditioner includes the steps of detecting zero crossing of input voltage by an input voltage phase detector when power is applied(400), switching on an IGBT switch by an IGBT switch controller after predetermined time passed from detection(420), switching off the IGBT switch by the IGBT switch controller after maintaining on switching for predetermined time, and maintaining off switching until next input voltage reaches zero crossing.
