A compact zoom lens is provided to adjust the sum of thickness of each lens group and the total focal distance of a wide angle range and to make the structure compact and lightweight while maintaining high magnification ratio by using a plastic lens. A compact zoom lens is composed of a first lens group(10-1) with the negative refractive power, a second lens group(20-1) with the positive refractive power, and a third lens group(30-1) with the positive refractive power, which are aligned from an object side(O) in order. The distance between the first and second lens groups is decreased and the distance between the second and third lens groups is increased, in magnifying the lens from a wide angle range to a telescopic angle range. The lens groups include at least one plastic lens. The compact zoom lens satisfies the following formula, 1<=(G1+G2+G3)/fw<=1.8. The G1, G2, and G3 are each thickness of the first, second and third lens groups. The fw is the total focal distance of a wide angle range.
