1344042 Dentifrice preparation COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 16 March 1972 [22 March 1971] 12404/72 Heading A5B A dentifrice is prepared by (a) mixing a water-soluble salt of 1, 6-di (p-chlorophenylbiguanido) hexane, an alkali metal salt of a carboxyalkylcellulose, a humectant, a surface active agent and water in such a way that the di(chlorophenylbiguanido) hexane salt and the carboxyalkylcellulose salt only come into contact in the presence of the surface active agent and (b) adding to this mixture a water-insoluble dental polishing agent. The di(chlorophenylbiguanido) hexane salt may be the digluconate. The carboxyalkylcellulose salt may be sodium carboxymethylcellulose. The humectant may be glycerol, sorbitol propylene glycol or poly(ethylene glycol). The surface active agent may be sodium N-lauroyl sarcosinate. The polishing agent may be colloidal silica, an alkali metal aluminosilicate, dicalcium orthophosphate dihydrate, or calcium carbonate. The composition may also include sodium saccharine, calcium chloride and/or oil of peppermint. The di(chlorophenyl biguanido) hexane salt may be added to the carboxyalkyl cellulose salt either simultaneously with or after the surface active agent. |
