According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is disclosed a method for shunting short messages, which is applicable to a networking comprising more than one SMS systems each having two corresponding devices, an SMSC and a GIW connected with the SMSC, respectively, wherein an FCC is arranged in the networking, and connected with each device in the networking. The method further includes: sending short messages to the FCC by a device in the networking when a peer device in the current short message path can not receive the short messages; determining a flow path of the short messages in the networking by the FCC after receiving the short messages, and sending the short messages via the flow path. Meanwhile, according to another embodiment of the present invention, there is disclosed a system for shunting short messages. According to the solution of the embodiments of the present invention, the shunting of short messages within the networking can be achieved, and further the shunting can be performed according to the operating information of each device in the networking.
