A laundry insertion preventing apparatus of a drum type washing machine is provided to prevent the laundry from being inserted between a tub and a gasket by disposing a prevention plate between the tub and a drum. A laundry insertion preventing apparatus of a drum type washing machine includes a cabinet(30), a tub(42), a drum(44), a prevention plate(60), and a drive motor(70). A front panel having an opening part is installed in the cabinet. The tub is installed inside the opening, and washing water is collected in the tub. The drum is rotatably installed inside the tub to receive the laundry. The prevention plate is provided between the drum and the tub so that the prevention plate is protruded into the opening part. The prevention plate is connected to the drive motor to slide between the drum and the tub.
