A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided to substantially realize 256 gradation levels by adjusting charging time of one frame through charging control signal generated by using two higher bits of 8-bit input image data and representing analog gradation voltages through the remaining six bits. There is provided a liquid crystal panel(160) in a liquid crystal display. A timing controller(120) divides pixel data of N bits into pixel data of (N-L) bits and pixel data of L bits. An analog data driving unit(152) converts the pixel data of (N-L) bits into an analog pixel voltage signal and supplies the converted signal to the liquid crystal panel. A digital data driving unit(154) generates a charging control signal for controlling the charging time of the pixel voltage signal by using the pixel data of L bits.
