A vehicle navigation apparatus for map matching is provided to supply an accurate route to a user by correcting the present position on the basis of indication of a vehicle driving direction photographed by an image-pickup device. A GPS receiving module(110) receives a GPS(Global Positioning System) signal and extracts the present position of a vehicle. An image-pickup device(120) photographs images including an identifying indicator in forward direction. An image processing unit(130) processes the photographed image and extracts the image of the identifying indicator. A position comparing and determining unit(150) compares the identifying indicator data with the present position and generates a corrected present position of a vehicle.
