A window 10 is obstructed by an air permeable vent 12. Continuous rotation of a drive spindle 16 causes reciprocal movement of a shaft 40 which in turn causes the window 10 to open and close. This allows the window to be opened and closed whilst moving a window operating mechanism in a single direction.
