An alarm apparatus of a mobile communication terminal using astronomical information and a method thereof are provided to give a user an alarm service according to the sunrise or the sunset instead of alarm setting according to time setting by a user. An alarm input module(110) selects an alarm service according to astronomical information. A controller(140) receives time information from an astronomical information server and sets alarm time if the alarm service according to astronomical information is selected. An alarm output module(130) outputs an alarm sound under the control of the controller such that a user recognizes the alarm sound if the set alarm time reaches. Desired time information is periodically received from an astronomical information server. The time information includes sunrise time or sunset time.
