1394123 Lighting fitting ESQUIRE Inc 28 Feb 1972 [16 Nov 1971] 9174/72 Heading F4R A lighting fitting of the floodlamp type includes a first socket 21 for engaging the non- electrical end of a lamp having a surface or surfaces 30 covered with a heat-insulating and cushioning material 37 which diverge outwardly in a generally conical form to contact the non- electrical end of the lamp at its circumference but not at its centre. Preferably the heatinsulating and cushioning material 37 of the first socket is asbestos and a second socket for receiving the electrical end of the lamp is mounted in the lighting fitting housing 11 opposite the first socket 21, the two sockets being relatively movable to permit insertion of a lamp. As shown the first socket 21 comprises a metal casting body 28 having a threaded tubular base 29 from which extend three symmetrically disposed asbestos-covered fingers 30. The socket 21 is mounted on a threaded pin 31 extending from a plate 33 secured to the housing. Both sockets extend through apertures 23 at the edge of horizontally and vertically curved reflector 19. The end of the lamp passes between adjacent fingers 30 of socket 21 to minimize the movement of the socket necessary to mount the lamp. |
