The automobile sliding roof assembly has a guide rail (12) and a carrier (20) for the roof (10). The carrier is linked to a leading bearing block (14) and a slide (32) rides on the rail. The carrier swings on the bearing block around a virtual pivot point (S) over the roof, which drifts when the roof is moved from a closed setting to a ventilation position.
