A steering column of a motor vehicle is provided to cut down on the cost of materials and manufacturing expenses and to reduce a manufacturing process by forming a lower support member placed on the lower part of an outer tube and a distance member placed on the inside of a lower support member integrally. The steering column of a motor vehicle contains a steering shaft connected with a steering wheel at the top and a rack-and-pinion mechanism at the bottom to transfer the rotary force generated by operating the steering wheel to the rack-and-pinion mechanism, an outer tube(310) covering the outside of the steering shaft, an inner tube inserted to the inside of the outer tube to be slidable together with the outer tube by a telescopic bush, an upper bracket fixing the outer tube to a motor vehicle body, a lower bracket fixing the inner tube to a motor vehicle body, and a lower support member(370) placed on the lower part of the upper bracket and provided with bent parts(402) formed on two sides and a curved part(406) formed in the same diameter as the outer circumference of the outer tube to place the outer tube strongly, wherein a distance member(410) is unified with the lower support member via a joint(412) to support two inner sides of the bent part and the lower side of the curved part at the same time.
