A method and an apparatus for automatically controlling white color are provided to prevent light source information from being deteriorated by the influence of a dominant object. If an object having dominant chromaticity is included in an input image, plural feature points having color features of the image are provided. First light source information is detected by using the plurality of feature points(S755). An average chromaticity of data, which show a chromaticity difference within a threshold value with respect to a chromaticity of first light source information among data constituting the image, is calculated(S765). The average chromaticity is matched to a predetermined light source track to provided second light source information(S770).
