Provided are a polyester resin for a toner, which imparts an electrostatic propensity to a toner without using a separate charge control agent and produces a toner simply and easily, and a toner using the same. The polyester resin for a toner consists of (a) an acid component comprising 80-100mol% of an aromatic dibasic component based on the total acid component and (b) an alcohol component comprising less than 90mol% of an aromatic diol, 10-80mol% of an aliphatic diol, and 10-11,000ppm, based on the polyester resin, of a reactive type charge control agent represented by the following chemical formula 1, based on the total acid component. In the chemical formula 1, each of R is independently a C1-5 alkylene group.
