An apparatus and a method for providing manual information of a broadcasting receiver are provided to enable a user to identify the manual information by displaying inputted manual information on an image display unit. A PCMCIA(Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card(300) stores manual information, wherein the PCMCIA card is mounted on a slot installed in a CI(Common Interface) module(200). A card information reading part(230) recognizes whether the PCMCIA card is mounted on the slot, and reads the manual information from the PCMCIA card. A CI microcomputer(210) controls the card information reading part and transmits the read manual information to a microcomputer(130) in a broadcasting receiver(100). When the manual information is selected by a remote controller of a user, the microcomputer controls the CI microcomputer and makes the card information reading part read the manual information from the PCMCIA card. When the microcomputer receives the manual information from the CI microcomputer, the microcomputer displays the manual information on an image display unit in the broadcasting receiver.
