A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) comprising the same are provided to prevent the movement of a light guiding plate, thereby preventing the crack of a lamp, by stably fixing the light guiding plate to a lower container through a hole of the light guiding plate and a protrusion of a lower container. A lamp unit supplies light to an LCD panel. A light guiding plate(140) is positioned adjacently to the lamp unit. The light guiding plate guides the light to the LCD panel. The light guiding plate has at least one hole(145) formed in a rear surface thereof, wherein the hole has a predetermined depth. A lower container(160) receives and fixes the light guiding plate and the lamp unit. The lower container has at least one protrusion(165) protruded from a bottom surface thereof, wherein the protrusion is joined to the hole of the light guiding plate. |
