A method for searching program information at an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) mode is provided to enable a user to easily identify program information and easily search desired information. A program search instruction is inputted at an EPG mode and a search word desired by a user is inputted. The inputted search word is compares with EIT(Event Information Table) data received in advance and it is determined whether a word matched with the search word in the EIT data exists. If the matched word in the EIT data exists, program information including the search word is displayed. When the program search instruction is inputted, a search method for displaying only program information corresponding to the search word, program information including the search word, or program information including a sentence similar to the search word is set.
