A method for treating a field emission display device is provided to increase absorbing efficiency and an effective display area by arranging a getter within a vacuum receptacle without an additional space for the getter. A pair of substrates(114,116) are opposite to each other and are sealed by using a sealing member(112) in order to form a vacuum receptacle. A getter(122) is inserted into the vacuum receptacle through the sealing member. A power supply unit(126) supplies power to the getter. The getter includes a resistive metallic thin film and a getter material. The resistive metallic thin film is connected to a pair of electrodes for receiving current from the power supply unit in order to generate heat. The getter material is coated on the resistive metallic thin film.
