A method for determining an optimal drive point in series and parallel hybrid cars is provided to decide an optimal drive point considering the efficiency of an engine and the efficiency of a power transmission. The method for determining an optimal drive point in series and parallel hybrid cars includes : a first step of deciding a target engine speed and a torque based on a requested torque, a vehicle speed and a battery power in series and parallel hybrid cars; a second step of controlling by using a torque engine controller inside the target engine and controlling the target engine speed by using speed control of a generator; and a third step of compensating the difference between the requested torque and the torque applied from the engine by using motor torque.
