A method for preventing a CRT(Cathode-Ray Tube) neck of a big slim CRT television from being damaged is provided to display an initially set picture when a power is applied to a CRT, to check the twist degree of a deflection angle by a feedback signal and to generate a warning message if the twist degree is larger than a predetermined value. When power is applied to a television(S1), an initial picture set in advance is displayed(S2). A feedback signal of the displayed initial picture is received and a twist degree of a deflection angle is determined(S3). If the deflection angle is twisted by a value larger than a reference value, a warning message is displayed(S4). The initial picture has a deflection angle which can cause the damage of a CRT neck of the television. The initial picture is displayed by an icon of a character.
