A mobile communication terminal for changing character inputting schemes and a character inputting method thereof are provided to enable a user to input characters through a desired scheme among various conventional character inputting schemes and newly developed character inputting schemes by simply changing the character inputting schemes. A mobile communication terminal for changing character inputting schemes comprises a setup information storage unit(162), an inputting scheme information storage unit(163), plural processors(164), and a controller(161). The setup information storage unit stores user setup information on a character inputting scheme. The inputting scheme information storage unit stores keypad display information and inputting scheme information on plural character inputting schemes. The plural processors process inputted data for inputting characters according to different character inputting schemes. The controller performs a control operation for changing the character inputting schemes and inputting characters by being linked with a central controller, drives one among the plural processors by the user setup information stored at the setup information storage unit for making the processor process the inputted data for inputting characters, to be forwarded through the central controller, and displays keypad display information on the character inputting scheme for each inputting scheme stored at the inputting scheme information storage unit.
