An apparatus for generating sound effects of a television is provided to cause a user to have interest and fun by outputting various sound effects in response to operation of a remote controller. A switch is turned on and off according to operation of a remote controller. A generator outputs a radio signal for generating a sound effect when the switch is turned on. A reception part(110) receives the radio signal from the generator. A control part recognizes the radio signal received by the reception part, searches data of a sound effect generation signal corresponding to the recognized radio signal from a memory and outputs the sound effect generation signal. A speech processing part(140) reproduces the sound effect generation signal under the control of the control part and outputs a corresponding sound effect to a speaker(150).
