A light emitting device is provided to prevent the degradation of reliability by preventing the generation of short between adjacent electrodes using a short preventing wall. A light emitting device includes a substrate(100) and a stacked structure on the substrate. The stacked structure is composed of a first conductive clad layer(130), an active layer(140) and a second conductive clad layer(150). The light emitting device further includes a short preventing wall. The short preventing wall(190) is formed to enclose an electrode, wherein the electrode is formed on the second conductive clad layer. The short preventing wall is made of an oxide-based insulating material. The short preventing wall is formed like a dam type structure.
