摘要 A surface light source device and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the same are provided to suppress the movement of mercury and prevent the channeling phenomenon due to interference between adjacent discharge spaces, thereby realizing uniform brightness distribution. An upper plate and a lower plate are bonded to each other by a sealing member, wherein the upper plate and the lower plate are distanced from each other by barrier ribs(246). A plurality of linear-typed discharge spacers(244) are prepared by the barrier ribs. Each of connection tubes(250) connects ends of neighboring two discharge spaces respectively. Each of exhaust tubes(248) connects neighboring connected discharge spaces. A first electrode(242a) and a second electrode(242b) are formed at both edges of the upper and lower substrates. An exhaust hole(249) is connected to one of the discharge spaces through one side of the lower substrate.
