A method of checking CAN message timeout error is provided to secure reliability of a CAN message in an electronic stability program system of a vehicle by quickly detecting a trouble of the CAN message timeout error. The method comprises the steps of: identifying a reception of controller area network(CAN) messages from at least one of an engine management system(20) and a transmission control unit(30) in an electronic stability program system(10); increasing the non-reception time if the CAN messages are not received from the previous step; and warning the CAN message timeout error when the increased time reaches a predetermined time.
