SHARING A KERNEL OF AN OPERATING SYSTEM AMONG LOGICAL PARTITIONS

OS kernel sharing among logical partitions is provided to reduce consumption of a memory and other system resources by sharing a kernel of an OS among the logical partitions. The kernel having a type used by a plurality of logical partitions is installed to a partition manager(402). A general data structure pointing computer resources assigned to each logical partition is installed to the partition manager(404). A kernel service according to the general data structure is provided by the kernel for the logical partitions(406). A logical processor of the logical partition using the kernel is dispatched to execute a state by the partition manager. A pointer for the general data structure of the partition manager is provided to the kernel. The general data structure specifies the computer resources assigned to the logical partition.
