An apparatus and a method for inputting alphabets in a keypad are provided to utilize a shift button that is not much used in an alphabet input mode as a control button. A series of input values are received in a keypad. The input values are preferentially interpreted by a full code. It is determined whether the inputted values suitably form a Korean language 'consonant/vowel-combined character'. When the inputted values do not suitably form a Korean language 'consonant/vowel-combined character', the inputted values are interpreted by a simple code. |
