A drain chamber structure of a water pump for a vehicle is provided to easily ensure a chamber space and to eliminate the necessity of sealing caps and vent holes, by directing an opening of a drain chamber toward the top of the chamber space. A drain chamber(14) is formed at an outer surface of a flange portion(12) beneath a shaft insert portion(11) of a pump housing(10) such that the drain chamber has an inner space. A drain hole is formed through the wall of the shaft insert portion so as to interconnect the inner space and the shaft insert portion. The coolant discharged through the drain hole is collected in and discharged from the drain chamber. The drain chamber is laterally extended from the outer surface of the flange portion, and inclined upward from a lower portion of the outer surface of the flange portion. The inner space of the drain chamber has an open top. |
