A method for extending a system cycle time in an MCU is provided to save expense/time required for changing design by extending the system cycle time with software in the MCU having the fixed system cycle time without changing resources. A ROM-check-cycle-time performed after a system initialization process is set as the second time(S11). The second time is set as a reference system cycle error processing time. It is checked whether the system cycle time reaches the second time while performing a control loop of system main. If the second time is passed while the main control loop is not completed, a system cycle time passing error process is performed(S15).
