<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves distributing n angular marks (R`n) with a same width, on a periphery of a target (1`). The angular marks (R`n) are identical and adapted for permitting detection signals having a similar signature. Ninth angular mark forming a reference mark (R`ref) has a differential characteristic adapted for permitting to obtain one detection signal having a specific signature. A target having a toothed peripheral edge formed of teeth (D`n, D`ref) and holes (C`n, C`ref) is used. The holes of the marks (R`n) have a uniform identical depth with respect to an adjacent tooth (D`n). #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determination of an angular position of a rotary component of an internal combustion engine (2) a target for the determination of an angular position of a rotary component of an internal combustion engine. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for determining an angular position of a rotary component e.g. crankshaft, of an internal combustion engine (claimed), for determining the position of engine`s pistons connected to the component by connecting rods, where the position is used by an engine control unit that manages the operation of the engine in better conditions. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method permits to determine the angular position of the rotary component such as crankshaft, in a precise manner, irrespective of a relative angular position between a target and a sensor and depends only on the distribution and number of the angular marks provided on the target. Ninth angular mark forming the reference mark has the differential characteristic adapted for permitting to obtain one detection signal having the specific signature, thus permitting to discriminate the reference mark with respect to the angular marks. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a partial perspective schematic view of an angular position determination device.
