<p>The invention relates to an airbag device comprising a gas generator (1), at one end of which a diffuser (2) with radial discharge ports (3) is disposed and on which a joining section (19) is embodied. A non-metallic gas lance (6, 15) is fixed to the joining section (19) upstream of the diffuser (2) so as to accommodate the same. The non-metallic gas lance (6, 15) is provided with or is plugged onto a reinforcing means (5, 18) at the axial end thereof that is associated with the joining section (19). Said reinforcing means (5, 18) redirects the gas flow (4) of the diffuser (3) from the radial discharge direction thereof to an axial discharge direction during normal operation of the gas generator (1) while boosting the gas lance (6, 15) in a thermally effective manner in said joining section (19). In case of a great thermal effect (8) on the joining section (19) from outside and random self-ignition of the gas generator (1), the gas lance material and the reinforcing means (5, 18) are destroyed, as a result of which the gas flow (4) is no longer redirected from the radial to the axial direction.</p> |
