<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance players' interests in games during the special game state while maintaining the fairness of the games in a game machine in which identifying information is variably displayed on a plurality of display means. <P>SOLUTION: With a time shortening flag on, when the frequency of executing a special pattern game as counted by a variable display frequency counter reaches a prescribed reference value for ending the time shortening mode, the time shortening flag is cleared off when the variable display of the special figures regarded as reaching the prescribed reference value for ending the time shortening mode is started.
