PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, capable of preventing the waste toner conveying path of a waste toner conveying device from being blocked. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a developing device 4 for developing two-component developer; recovering means 10 and 20 for recovering toner that was not used for the development; and conveying means 14 and 24, by which the toner recovered by the recovering means 10 and 20 is conveyed to a waste-toner tank 30 and the developing device 4. In the image forming apparatus, temperature sensors 16 and 26 are disposed near the corresponding conveying means. In addition, the image forming apparatus is provided with a control means 14 for exerting control, such that when the detection values of the sensors 16 and 26 exceed their certain thresholds, carrier in the developing device 4 is transferred to an image carrier 1, as well as, is supplied to the conveying means 14 and 24.
