PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal device and a software installation method, acquiring latest software from an optimum acquisition destination in consideration of communication cost or the like when peripheral equipment is connected, and capable of automatically performing processing for installing it. SOLUTION: This mobile terminal device 100 monitors a storage medium, an external device 200, and a software distribution server 300 or the like, and stores the acquisition destination from which the software necessary to use any peripheral equipment can be acquired. When the peripheral equipment is connected, the acquisition destination of the software is selected on the basis of stored information and priority order set in each acquisition destination, and the installation is automatically performed.
