PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption further in a configuration which includes a memory circuit for each pixel. SOLUTION: A pixel 110 comprises: a memory circuit for holding one bit; a selection circuit which selects an ON signal Von when one bit which is held is an H level, and selects an OFF signal Voff, when it is an L level; and a pixel electrode to which the selected ON signal Von or the OFF signal Voff is applied and which faces a common electrode 185. A signal Vcom supplied from outside is used as it is, as the signal Voff.
