PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving fitting for a latch capable of providing muffling effect on the receiving fitting side, capable of reducing impact forces between metals in a latch device and impact force of a front opening against a rectangular frame for sliding the latch, enabling the easy installation of a frictional resistance plate on a mud guard, and capable of providing latch rattling prevention function. SOLUTION: This receiving fitting 4 comprises the forwardly opened mud guard 15 and a strike 16 having a latch insertion hole 16a. The proximal end 19 of the frictional resistance plate 17 is pivotally supported inside the mud guard 15. The free end 20 of the frictional resistance plate 17 is positioned on the rear surface of the strike 16 so that the latch insertion hole 16a is always closed by the biasing force of a biasing means 21 installed in the receiving fitting 4.
