PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling opening and closing of a shutter of a printing part in which the method for controlling is simple and the time for processing is rapid in conveying and printing. SOLUTION: A printer apparatus comprises a conveying passage for taking a medium into the apparatus and conveying the medium to respective parts in the apparatus, a printing head 4 with a carriage, and the shutter 8 of the printing part for opening the conveying passage by energizing electricity to an electromagnetic solenoid or the like in order to print by the printing head 4, and conveys the medium to the printing part during printing, and opens the shutter 8 of the printing part to print the medium in the conveying passage. In this printer apparatus, a locking mechanism 11 for fixing the shutter 8 of the printing part opened when the printing head 4 is got out from a home position is provided on the shutter 8 of the printing part opening the conveying passage during printing so as to hold the opening condition of the shutter 8 of the printing part by an action of the locking mechanism 11 during printing or the like.
