PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work cutting method using a band-saw machine and a band-saw machine capable of suppressing restraining noise due to chatter vibration of a band-saw blade. SOLUTION: In cutting a work W using the endless band-saw blade 13 wrapped round a driving wheel 29 and a driven wheel 31, forced vibration in which the vibration in the rotating direction of the driving wheel 29 and the vibration in the rotating direction of the driven wheel 31 show substantially inverted phases is applied to the driving wheel 29 to cut the work W. In order to drive the driving wheel 29 in the rotating direction, a pulse with a frequency of 116 to 135 Hz, preferably a pulse with 127 Hz is applied to a driving motor 37 for rotatively driving the driving wheel 29.
