PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a helical gear in which the manufacturing efficiency in terms of the yield of raw material and the times of processing work, is high and the working precision is high even in the case that the axial directional length of the helical gear is not the integer times the axial directional pitch and the conventional low cost roll-forming apparatus can be used as it is. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the helical gear 1 having a screw groove of desirable axial directional length L1 with a prescribed axial directional pitch P around the shaft center comprises: a roll-forming process for making a roll-formed material 6 by roll-forming the screw groove with length L2 having two or more pieces of the axial directional length (L1) of the helical gear around the shaft center in the bar-like raw material to be processed; and a cutting-off process for obtaining two pieces of the helical gears 1 by cutting off this roll-formed material 6 into the desirable axial directional length L1. In the above roll-forming process, two pieces of the helical gears 1 equaled to the axial directional length L1 can symmetrically be set on the shaft center of the raw material to be processed.
