PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily search, for example, a comment part in a recorded image. SOLUTION: The electronic endoscope system is equipped with an electronic endoscope having an image pickup device for imaging the inside of a body cavity, an image processing means for processing image signals output from the image pickup device to be displayed on a monitor, and an input means where information is input from the outside and which converts the information into signals of a prescribed type, a record regeneration means which records the image signals processed by the image processing means and the signals of the prescribed type output from the input means in a recording medium and regenerates them, an output value detecting means which detects an output value of the signal of the prescribed type output from the input means, and an index information writing means which writes index information in the recording medium when an output value higher than a prescribed threshold value is detected by the output value detecting means.
