PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge in which bubbles can be prevented from being mixed into ink supplied to a head when the ink is used by preventing air from being mixed into the upper ink containing chamber of the ink cartridge having upper and lower ink containing chambers. SOLUTION: An upper ink containing chamber and a lower ink containing chamber 11 are split vertically by a partition wall 10. Ink in the upper ink containing chamber is discharged from an ink supply port 4 through a differential pressure valve partitioned by an annular partition wall 24. The upper ink containing chamber is split into an upper first ink containing chamber 16 and an upper second ink containing chamber 17 by a vertical wall 15 having a communication opening 15a at a lower portion. A communication channel 18 has communication openings at upper and lower positions, communicates with the upper first ink containing chamber through the communication opening 18b at an upper position, and communicates with the lower ink containing chamber through the communication opening 18a at a lower position.
