PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of efficiently transferring a file. SOLUTION: A digital camera 100 as an imaging apparatus is configured such that first and second external recording media 22, 23 are detachable from the digital camera 100. The digital camera 100 transfers a read file when the external recording media 22, 23 does not include the same files other than the read file, transfers the read file when the external recording media 22, 23 include the same files other than the read file, and skips the file transfer when the external recording media 22, 23 include the same files other than the read file and the files are already transferred.
