PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based emulsion coating more suitable for coating a coated surface stuck with a water-soluble contaminant such as cigarette tar, a permanent marker, woody scum, etc. SOLUTION: The water-based emulsion coating comprises a nitrogen-containing polymer compound as an adsorbent for a contaminant attached to a coated surface. The nitrogen-containing polymer compound is one or more kinds of a polyamide compound, a polyamine compound, a polymer containing a cyclic amide backbone and a polymer containing an oxazoline backbone.
