PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin having excellent stability with time and usability (slip for skin, compatibility with the skin, stickiness, a refreshing feeling, an emollient feeling and a feeling of tensity) and to provide an oil-in-water type skin cosmetic. SOLUTION: The external preparation for skin comprises isononyl 2-ethylhexanoate and/or 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate [=ingredient (a)]. The oil-in-water type emulsified skin cosmetic comprises the ingredient (a), (b) one or two or more kinds selected from higher fatty acids and higher alcohols which are solids or semi-solids at normal temperature (25°C), (c) a homopolymer, a copolymer or a cross-polymer containing one or two or more kinds selected from AMPS (2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid), acrylic acid and derivatives thereof as constituent units or a mixture thereof and (d) one or two or more kinds selected from nonionic surfactants having≥9 value of HLB.
