PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder superior in paper feeding capacity while preventing the occurrence of a paper feeding error. SOLUTION: A facsimile device A (the paper feeder) performs control for changing a rotating speed of a paper feeding roller 11 imparted in paper feeding operation, so as to reduce an average rotating speed for reducing the paper feeding error when a frequency failing in the paper feeding operation reaches a predetermined value (for example, one time), and to increase the average rotating speed for improving the paper feeding performance when a frequency of performing the paper feeding operation reaches a predetermined value (for example, 100 times) without making the frequency failing in the paper feeding operation reach the predetermined value, on the basis of the content of a counting area 35A of a flash memory 35.
