A device, method, and system for cooperative diversity wireless communication. The method includes detecting at least one relay wireless device ( 106 ). Forward link address information of a target wireless device ( 104 ) is transmitted, via the wireless communication link ( 118 ) to the at least one relay wireless device ( 106 ) a forward link wireless communication data signal received by the at least one relay wireless device ( 106 ). An instruction to transmit to the target wireless device ( 104 ) the forward link wireless communication data signal received by the at least one relay wireless device ( 106 ) is also transmitted to the at least one relay wireless device ( 106 ), via the wireless communication link. The forward link wireless communication data signal being destined for reception by the target wireless device ( 104 ).
