PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell stably showing power generation performance, for a long time, favorably working under the operation condition of non-humidified or relative humidity of 50% or less at the working temperature of 100-200°C.

SOLUTION: A fuel cell has a proton conductive solid polymer electrolyte comprising an acid and a polymer compound impregnated with the acid, and the polymer compound is polyazomethines.
